Signs of this part failing-
The A/C Works Great at First, Then Blows Warm Air
This is the classic "frozen evaporator" sign. If the sensor is stuck reading too warm, the car forces the A/C compressor to run constantly without cycling off. The condensation on the metal evaporator fins quickly freezes solid into a block of ice.
- The Sign: Air stops blowing hard from the vents (restricted by ice), and the cabin air gets progressively humid and warm.
- The Test: If you turn the A/C off for 15–20 minutes, the ice melts, a large puddle of water drains under the car, and the A/C works normally again—until it freezes over right back.
